GOVERNMENT TO STOP REQUIRING VETERANS TO 'PROVE' PTSD

COMMENTARY:

Another move by the Government to make it less cumborsome for veterans with PTSD to get the proper help they need for their condition.  I wholeheartedly applaud this move removing the requirement for the vet with PTSD "to prove the incident that caused their condition."  As a psychiatrist who has evaluated more than 6000 vets with PTSD I can tell you that it is often impossible for the sufferer to know what one incident caused the problem.  Most commonly it is the environment of combat, rather than one specific event resopnsible.  The mere removal of the requirement on having to prove the single event will go far in helping veterans with PTSD get the help they need and deserve.
